NORTHERN PIKE (ESOX LUCIUS)

Pike are freshwater fish with long bodies and sharp teeth. They're usually green to olive and live  in lakes and rivers. Pike are cannibles, eat other fish,  and small animal such as ducks, frogs, and mice.  They're good at surprising their prey with a quick attack. People enjoy catching them because they're big and put up a strong fight when hooked. Fish up to 20 pounds are common in some Alaskan rivers and lakes, though Northern pike can grow much larger. The state sport fishing record is a 38 pound fish caught in a tributary of the Yukon River.
